The home lift has become another way for every member of the family to move between floors — not just adults, but children too. However, to keep young children safe even when an adult is present, fitting a child lock to your home lift is essential so that children can’t press the buttons and play with the lift on their own. And this isn’t only about children: it also applies to the elderly lift as well as the wheelchair lift . That is why this safety system was developed by Cibes Lift, the screw-driven home lift that puts safety first — certified to European standards by LIFTINSTITUUT
The Child Lock works much like the system in your car, which stops children from playing with the doors — that’s exactly why cars have it. The same principle applies to home lifts. Read the article below to understand more about the child lock feature.
1. Why Install a Child Lock on a Home Lift

A closer look at the Child Lock
Using a lift to move around the home is becoming more and more popular for the whole family. As a product installed in the home, it is used by every member, every day. Adults find it easier than children to understand how the lift works and how to handle any situation that arises inside it. When children use the lift, however, situations can occur that adults may not anticipate, such as:
- A small child may not be tall enough to reach the buttons on the control panel
- A child plays inside the lift and a toy part or other foreign object gets stuck in it, bringing the lift to a stop
- If something goes wrong, children may not know how to call for help
For this reason, Cibes recommends that adults always keep an eye on children, especially young ones, when they use the home lift. Adults cannot follow a small child or stay at home at all times, though — which is why the Child Lock is an extra feature that gives the adults of the household safer control over how the lift is used.
As one of the world’s leading lift manufacturers, Cibes Lift Group always keeps user experience and safety in mind. That is why Cibes Lift introduced a dedicated Child Lock on its lifts.
2. How the Child Lock on a Cibes Lift Works
2.1. What Is a Child Lock?

The Child Lock is a safety feature introduced for the first time on Cibes home lifts with the EcoSilent Drive system. It is a device fitted to the lift that limits the risk of young children using the lift unsupervised.
The Child Lock device was researched and developed by Cibes to create a safe, comfortable environment when using the lift, particularly in families with young children. Cibes recommends that adults always watch over, guide and supervise young children when they use the lift.
2.2. Child Lock Design
The Child Lock has an understated Nordic design with rounded corners and a modern, convenient touch screen. The display on the button is simple and easy to understand. The lock is normally installed at a height of 1.8 metres, out of reach of small children.
2.3. Child Lock Features and How to Use It
To use the Child Lock, here is a short guide :
How to Activate the Child Lock
Press and hold the lock for 3 seconds until the LED lights up
How to Call the Lift While the Child Lock Is On
